Introduction

The Summer School on Introduction to Renewable Energy is aimed both at those approaching the topic of renewable energy for the first time and at those who already have some experience (even outside of formal education) in this field.

Through a combination of theoretical lessons and practical “hands-on” exercises, students will be provided with an up-to-date and comprehensive overview of the main commercially viable renewable technologies, gaining an understanding of how they work and the various steps that led to their development.

In addition, the school will offer a review of renewable energy markets—from the international to the local level—with a special focus on the latest market trends.

An important component of the program will also be dedicated to guiding students towards Master's degree programs.

The program includes the following topics:

  • Basic principles and technical features: state of the art and future perspectives;
  • Renewable energy sources: solar (photovoltaic and thermal), hydroelectric, geothermal, biomass and biofuels;
  • Integration into the energy grid: regulatory and economic aspects;
  • Overview of production and research activities in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region;
  • Laboratory activities and guided tours of active facilities in the region.
